Our restaurant’s 25 years of history. In 2013, we are celebrating the 25 year anniversary of Xaco Restaurant in Platja d’Aro. It all began in this same location when Xaco, the fishmonger after who the restaurant is named, opened a retail fish market in 1988. The following year, he ventured into what became the innovative restaurant / fish market concept, where clients can hand-pick their own catch of the day and have it cooked to order using traditional methods. Today, 25 years later, the unparalleled quality of our products and services remain constant, and the business is in constant evolution to better serve our clients. The restaurant has gradually increased in size and comfort; it now features a redecorated main dining room, an adjacent indoor terrace, and a fully renovated kitchen. Our restaurant is currently surrounded by lively new businesses, as many have realized the potential in the area throughout the years. Staying very much family-owned business, you can find Xaco’s descendants in all areas of the business to bring it, in good hands, from the sea to your plate. From Catalonia’s main ports, we guarantee unique variety and freshness by having fish and seafood delivered twice a day. Our customers savor their own hand-picked fish from our display, a truly unique rustic treat straight from the Mediterranean Sea.

Why is Xaco special among restaurants? Grilled, fresh fish is our specialty. We offer a wide selection of live seafood, both fish and shellfish. Our live lobsters come from a local hatchery. Specialities include: Fried fish, seafood paella, seafood stew with rice, noodles Catalan (mariner style), and Zarzuela, our seafood casserole. We also offer a large selection of beverages including wines and liquors. We are constantly improving and evolving our selection of drinks which compliment our culinary dishes. Our goal is to maintain a consistent standard of excellence in our food and drink. We pay attention to the smallest details to create an exceptional dining experience. We believe that what we do is complimented perfectly by how we do it. Our values run deep and are reflected in our business traditions.
